Inspired by Levo League’s article “3 Steps to Creating a Personal Mission Statement” and Fast Company’s Leadership Newsletter, I put together a vision board.
It’s somewhat divided into three categories: present, near future, and future future.
- Present: I want to be creative. I want to take this single-responsible-for-myself-only time to get into a really solid creative routine. Build my portfolio and make my connections. Figure out what my muses are. My most productive time of the day. I want to own my time and create a brand for myself.
- Near future: I want to travel. See the world!! Explore, learn about other cultures, and share my own.
- Future future: Fall in love without fear, build a family, and be a damn good cook
I was just comparing this to my list of life priorities:
- To contribute to my family with emotional, social, and financial support
- To make sure I lead a healthy life: exercise/meditation, food, and rest
- To continually educate myself through current events, leisurely reading, travel, and meeting others
- To “be there” for my friends and family when they need comfort and companionship; to have a positive presence for those around me
- To have a job that I enjoy going to
My vision board is now on the wall of my apartment and I see it every day. And with every passing day, (*humblebrag alert*) I am very proud of who I’m becoming. I’m very thankful for the tools and resources out there helping young professionals grow into the person they aspire to be! Lastly, I feel very lucky to have a strong support system.
Til next time,
Ash xo
PS. I hope this blog post captures the ambition and excitement I have for the future. And I can look back at it for inspiration when I feel low.
