  • I deserve all things good.

  • I value my time and energy.

  • I stop having hard conversations with people who don’t want to change.

  • I stop showing up for people who have no interest in my presence.

  • My health is a priority. I love my body in every form.

  • My life’s purpose reveals itself to me over and over again.

  • I am rarely ever bored because I enjoy my own company.

  • I let go of the people who aren’t prepared to love me.

  • My heart heals and makes space for more love.

  • I fight for life with joy, interest, and commitment.

  • The goal in life isn’t for it to be easy, but richer and more meaningful.

2020 Small Business Holiday Gift Guide, curated by @ashhunny by Ashley Villanueva

What is the 2020 Small Business Holiday Gift Guide?

2020 has been a wild year, especially for small businesses. For the holidays this year, my goal is to purchase through small businesses (instead of Amazon and big box stores) as much as possible. While some have been hustlin’ since the beginning of time, others in my network have taken this shelter in place as an opportunity to launch a business. Below, I’ve curated a list of these small businesses for you to “browse” as possible gifts. Please join me in supporting these talented and creative folks — for the holidays and beyond! Even giving them a follow on social media will go a long way.

What if I don’t see what I’m looking for?

From Small Business Saturday 2020 (11/28) to New Years 2021, I’ll be updating this gift guide weekly, so please email me to add more businesses to the guide.

Black Lives Matter by Ashley Villanueva

Dear Community,

It has been a long and humbling week in the movement for Black Lives Matter. There has been an uptick in activity these past 11 days and I imagine it will only escalate between now and the November election (and beyond if these demands are not heard and acted upon).

The fight against police brutality and violence against Black people is one piece of a larger unjust puzzle. From the criminal "justice" system to institutionalized racism to basic needs (food, housing, health, financial security), Black folks are unequivocally exploited systemically. The tragic deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd have lit a path that is illuminating and uncovering the truths that our capitalistic society have tried so hard to deny. We can no longer look away.

Here is what I have to offer:

Conversation: If you have questions about anything that is going on, please feel free to comment below or direct message me with your questions and it will be received without judgment. I do NOT know everything, but I am learning too. I feel connected to a wise group of friends and colleagues that I can lean on for advice and resources. Transformational change doesn't happen without great conversation. Even if you and I may not agree, I'd like to hear from you.

Creativity: If I can support you in organizing by designing a poster, developing a communications plan, or connecting you to another creative, do not hesitate to reach out.

I am seeing glimmers of progress and we can all take part (everyone's advocacy is going to look different) to make sure it continues to move forward.

Take care,
Ashley
